1 · Installation
Download the installer for your operating system from the Download Center. The website detects your OS and offers the right package automatically: an EXE installer on Windows, a DMG on macOS and an AppImage on Linux. An online installer (small, streams the payload), an offline installer (full payload embedded) and a portable version (no installation) are available for each platform.
After every download, you can verify integrity by comparing the file's SHA-256 hash with the checksum listed next to the download link.
2 · First run & free trial
On first launch the installation wizard asks you to create an account (or sign in). Creating an account provisions your company, and Start Free Trial issues a 7-day, full-featured trial license bound to your company — no credit card required. Once the trial is active you log in and land in the app.
3 · Licensing & activation
NexusBOS licenses are device-bound. Each license includes a number of device seats (2 on trial, 5 on monthly/yearly, 10 on lifetime). Activating a device sends a one-way hash of the machine fingerprint to our servers — the raw fingerprint never leaves your machine.
- Online activation: enter your license key (format
NXB-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX) in the app; the device is registered instantly. - Offline activation: for machines without internet, copy the fingerprint shown in the activation dialog, generate a signed
.licfile in the customer portal, and load it into the app. - Deactivation: free a seat from inside the app (Settings → License) or from the customer portal's device list.
- Offline grace: validation results are cryptographically signed and cached, so a temporary outage never locks your counter — 24 h grace on trial, 72 h on monthly/yearly, 7 days on lifetime.
4 · Updates, channels & rollback
The desktop app checks for updates on startup, downloads them in the background, verifies the SHA-512 checksum and installs silently on the next restart. If an update fails to apply, the previous version is restored automatically. You can pick a release channel in Settings → Updates: Stable (default), Beta (early features) or Developer (nightly). If a published release is withdrawn, clients on it are offered the previous good version automatically.
5 · Modules
Task-level guides for every module — POS, Sales, Inventory, Customers, Suppliers, Purchasing, Accounting, Reports, HR, Attendance, Leave, Payroll, CRM and the industry packs — are built into the app under Help → User Guide, matched to your industry configuration.
6 · Customer portal
The customer portal (Settings → Billing & License in the web app) lets you view and renew your subscription, upgrade plans, manage branches, manage licenses and devices, view invoices, pay online, download receipts and open support tickets.
7 · API
NexusBOS exposes a versioned REST API (OpenAPI/Swagger documentation is served by your backend at /docs). Public endpoints cover the latest version, download URLs, release notes, update checks, license validation, device activation and trial registration.
